The Muro Series is an integrated trilogy comprising three interconnected projects: Muro de Carne, Cicatrizes, and Calendário. Together, they investigate the wall not as a structural boundary, but as a "skin"—a biological and historical interface that records the passage of time through its physical trauma and successive regenerations.
Muro de Carne (Wall of Flesh)
Building upon the research initiated in "Costura da Memória" (Sewing Memory), this work explores fragmentation and imperfection as essential elements of memory. By using crumpled and torn paper, the piece symbolizes the selective and fractured nature of human remembrance. The act of sewing serves as a metaphor for the reconnection and reinterpretation of the past. The work challenges the notion of memory as a static repository, presenting it instead as a dynamic, fluid force that is constantly rewritten upon the "thick body" of personal and social history.
Cicatrizes (Scars)
This stage deepens the concept of the wall-as-skin by focusing on the physical marks inscribed upon its organic surface. The use of reddish pigmentation evokes human flesh, creating a resonance between the vitality of the body and the flow of time. New layers of paint do not hide these scars; they highlight them, acting as a visual palimpsest. The resulting fissures and discolorations resemble the wrinkles of aging skin—a silent history accessible to touch and sight. The project culminates in a series of prints of these "scars," symbolically joined by sutures that attempt to close the wall's wounds, resignifying both fragility and resistance.
Calendário (Calendar)
This project shifts the notion of time from simple chronology to a "non-linear duration." The layers of paint and fissures serve as evidence of a chronology inherent to the matter itself. By coating the wall in flesh-toned pigments, the surface becomes a monument to duration, resisting successive renewals and silencing. The "Calendar" is thus not a measurement of days, but an accumulation of marks that testify to the persistence of lived experience within the matter.
