Naufragium is a performance project created by artist and researcher Gabriela Vaz-Pinheiro, presented at the Festival DDD (Dias da Dança) in Porto, 2024. The piece explores the visceral connection between matter and memory, operating on the premise that any piece of fabric contains the memory of the skin that wore it. Through a performance of clothes and bodies, Naufragium conjures a present of excesses and fragilities, suggesting that each body contains the entire memory of the world.
My role in this production was twofold: I served as the technical lead responsible for the live synchronization of the audio with the 20-minute choreography. This required high-precision timing to ensure the soundscape responded organically to the performers' movements. Additionally, I was responsible for the video documentation, capturing the atmospheric tension between the performers and the industrial residues that defined the stage. My work ensured that the ephemeral nature of the live event was preserved as a cohesive visual and auditory narrative.
