Jogo (Game) represents an expansion of my investigation into temporality by shifting the experience of time from a two-dimensional perspective to a three-dimensional sculptural composition. In this project, I utilize "scars" as a form of topographic inscription of past events. These visible marks, initially captured through prints on paper, are interpreted as somatic archives that reveal a unique chronology of matter.
Building upon these initial prints, the project evolves into a physical interactive system composed of wooden blocks of varying dimensions. In this context, the wood grain serves as a literal timeline of the material’s biological growth. By using numerous separate blocks, I aim to represent the infinite possibilities for altering timelines.
The participant is invited to take an active role: each decision to select a block and align its grain with the next creates a continuous path. This illustrates that while a timeline may appear to follow a predetermined direction, the act of choosing a different block—a different path—can change that direction, sometimes radically. Jogo thus becomes a metaphor for the plasticity of time and human agency, asserting that memory and the future are not static, but a dynamic texture constantly reconfigured by our choices and encounters.
