Topografias da Indeterminação (Topographies of Indeterminacy) was a collective exhibition designed to showcase the work-in-progress of first-year Master’s students at FBAUP. More than a traditional exhibition, it served as a collaborative laboratory for the comprehension and interpretation of emerging research projects.
By mapping out all ongoing investigations—placing sketches, prototypes, and technical experiments across the walls and central tables of A Cozinha Gallery—we were able to observe the dynamic interconnections between our individual research proposals. For me, this was a crucial turning point; the physical layout of the materials allowed for a topographic visualization of my own concepts on time and image.
This experimental "mapping" was a key catalyst in directing the subsequent research and writing of my Master’s thesis, "Time and Image: Speculations and experiments on time in artistic practice." It allowed me to see where my technical experimentation with pinhole cameras and wood grain met the theoretical frameworks of temporal philosophy.
